This month, Myanmar plans to export 50,000 tons of sugar to Vietnam

The Myanmar Sugar and Sugarcane Industry Association announced that it plans to export about 50,000 tons of sugar to Vietnam in December this year.

It is said that the two countries have signed an agreement in advance on the export of sugar to Vietnam. Since December 1, Myanmar's sugar mills have been pressed and will complete the task of exporting 50,000 tons of white sugar to Vietnam within this month.

A person in charge of the Myanmar Sugar and Sugarcane Industry Association said that Myanmar used to produce about 450,000 tons of sugar a year, and this year it is expected to increase production to about 500,000 tons. The sugar produced is given priority to meet domestic demand, and the remaining production is exported. Last year, Myanmar exported about 90,000 tons of sugar to Vietnam.

It is reported that sugar mills in Myanmar began buying sugar cane at the end of November and began squeezing sugar in early December. Sugar mills have now been opened in eastern and western Bago province, Mandalay province, northern and southern Shan State and Sagaing province.
