FMC launches Reator®, A Selective Soybean herbicide, in Brazil
FMC recently launched in Brazil the selective pre-emergence herbicide Reator®, formulated with FMC's exclusive active ingredient Clomazone. The product is highly selective and can be applied after soybean emergence, extending the application window.
In Brazil, the first soybean planting takes place between September and October, at the beginning of the rainy season, when the soil is dry in the most productive areas, low rainfall and dry soil moisture limit the use of herbicides in the early sowing period, which Reator® avoids.
Jedir Fiorelli, Crop Manager at Formerite, said: "Reator® uses Formerite's unique microcapsule formulation technology for a high degree of flexibility. When the soil has reached ideal moisture conditions, the microcapsules can be applied under various conditions, such as dry and high humidity, by releasing the active ingredients. Reator® will guarantee the gradual release of active ingredients into the soil at the right time and ensure crop selectivity as well as weed residue control.
The results showed that Reator® was applied to control Eleusine indica and Digitaria insularis, which are extremely difficult to control and resistant to herbicides, with a control rate of 99.9%, which can be used as the benchmark for the control of soybean weeds. The product has excellent performance even in soil covered with straw, avoiding crop loss and thus generating higher profits.
Reator® is now available for sale throughout Brazil.
