Flagchem: Topramezone project’s trial production is imminent

Recently, Anhui Ningyitai, a holding subsidiary of Flagchem, is about to complete the installation of new capacity equipment for Topramezone, which is expected to be put into trial production in October. This marks the substantial progress of a series of pesticide construction projects of Flagchem.

Flagchem, located in Anhui (Huaibei) new coal chemical synthetic materials base, established a holding subsidiary Anhui Ningyitai Technology in July 2020, and built a new "annual output of 15,500 tons of new pesticide technicals and related products project". Topramezone is part of the project with a design capacity of 500 tons per year.

Topramezone is a 4-HPPD inhibitor. It has A good control effect on weeds resistant to Glyphosate, triazines, ALS inhibitors and ACCase inhibitors. The product is now the fourth largest herbicide in the HPPD inhibitor class and ranks among the more than $100 million products.

Topramezone has the characteristics of high safety, strong selectivity, wide insecticidal spectrum, long duration and good compatibility. In 2006, Topramezone was launched, mainly sold in the United States, China, Argentina, but also in Hungary, Mexico, Indonesia, and the United States, mainly focused on corn, and is expanding to grain, rice and other markets.

In recent years, as resistant weeds in corn fields have become more and more difficult to control, and the profit and control efficiency of traditional tobacco weeds have declined, domestic pesticide enterprises have paid more and more attention to Topramezone. With the expiration of BASF's patent in China (the patent of Topramezone in China expired on January 8, 2018, patent number: ZL98802797.6), the localization process of the original drug is also steadily advancing. Although Topramezone products continue to be introduced, its market is gradually opening, but in the long run, the future promotion of domestic genetically modified corn is bound to impact the market of Topramezone, and the price of ben Topramezone products will be stable and decline in the future.
