Syensqo acquires ceramide expert Jinyoung Bio
Syensqo announced the acquisition of JinYoung Bio, a South Korean supplier of specialty cosmetic ingredients. This investment expands Syensqo’s product portfolio into more natural and high-value professional skin care solutions containing functional and active ingredients.
Ceramides are the flagship product line in Jinyoung Bio's product portfolio and are produced via a fermentation process through biotechnology, which is in line with Syensqo's renewable materials and biotechnology growth goals. The addition of Jinyoung Bio's technology will expand Syensqo's product portfolio to biomimetic ceramides for skin care and hair care applications, as well as a range of bio-based functional ingredients for skin care and makeup applications.
Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo said: "This acquisition reflects our strong commitment to innovation and our focus on sustainable solutions that harness the power of biotechnology. We are committed to making a meaningful impact on the beauty industry, solving key environmental and social challenges through breakthrough circular solutions. "
Syensqo's beauty care business aims to enhance Jinyoung Bio's commercial and technical capabilities through its customer access, formulation and application expertise, and marketing capabilities. The company plans to launch the first product in the ceramide range and four functional ingredients in the second quarter of 2024 to support Syensqo's goal of growing its home and beauty care business twice as fast as the market.
