BASF invests in expansion of auxiliary plant in Nanjing production base

2024-05-11

On May 9, BASF announced an investment in the expansion of its advanced auxiliary plant at its base in Nanjing. Scheduled to start production by the end of 2025, the expansion project includes a cutting-edge production line for high-performance dispersants based on BASF's unique controlled free radical polymerization (CFRP) technology to meet the rapidly growing market demand in Asia and beyond. The new line is built to high environmental standards and uses advanced production processes with lower CO2 emissions.

”Dr. Lou, Chairman and President of BASF Greater China, said: "China is the largest and fastest growing chemical market in the world. The expansion of the auxiliary plant at the Nanjing base will further strengthen BASF's production layout in China. With our locally rooted innovation and manufacturing capabilities, we meet the growing needs of our customers in China with closer proximity to the market, greater efficiency and more innovative product portfolios to help them strengthen their competitiveness and achieve sustainable development."

Over the past decade, the Nanjing base has been expanded several times and has become an important hub for BASF's additive production in China and the Asia-Pacific region, achieving seamless integration of production, technical services and research and development.

Sylvain Huguenard, BASF Vice President, Global Additives Business Management, said: "CFRP technology enables the precise construction of polymer structures, resulting in strong pigment affinity and excellent anti-flocculation properties. For more than 20 years, BASF has been providing its customers with advanced dispersants through its unique controlled radical polymerization technology. This new investment demonstrates our strong commitment to continuous innovation, reliable supply and sustainability.
