Beiersdorf invests more than 200 million euros in new logistics center

ECHEMI 2024-08-05

The Beiersdorf Group, which owns brands such as Nivea, Eucerin, Coppertone, Chantecaille and La Prairie, has begun construction of a new state-of-the-art logistics center on a 12.5-hectare site in the north of Leipzig, Germany.

The location was chosen primarily for its good connections to the European transport network and its proximity to the company's production sites. Beiersdorf plans to transport a considerable portion of its goods by rail in the future.

The Hamburg-based company will invest a total of more than 200 million euros in the project, which is expected to be completed in 2027. Around 450 new jobs will be created when the center opens.

Standing 25 meters high and with space for around 125,000 fully automated pallets, the high-bay warehouse will become Beiersdorf's "largest and most efficient warehouse in the world."

The German group intends to use the center to integrate value-added service activities, such as the production of display items and the preparation of gift packaging and special assortment boxes for retailers.

The new logistics center is designed to be climate-neutral and will also contribute to the group's sustainability agenda. Its features include photovoltaic modules and green roofs and facades.
