Lubrizol Launches Innovative Polyurethane Dispersion Technology Delivering Superior Wood Coating Protection
As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing polymer technologies, Lubrizol has introduced Sancure™ 942, a next-generation waterborne, high-solids polyurethane dispersion (PUD) designed to deliver outstanding performance in wood coating applications.
Sancure 942 is a versatile polymer engineered for both residential and commercial wood flooring finishes as well as OEM wood coatings. It offers excellent abrasion resistance, strong chemical resistance, enhanced durability, and superior adhesion across a variety of substrates—making it ideal for a wide range of demanding wood coating applications.
Thanks to its high solids content, Sancure 942 enables greater coverage per unit volume, reducing the number of coats needed to achieve the desired performance and accelerating return-to-service times. When formulated with external crosslinkers, its performance characteristics are further elevated, offering even greater resilience and longevity.
“This innovation brings value across the entire coatings value chain,” said Israel Skoff, Market Manager for Resin Technologies at Lubrizol. “Coating manufacturers will see performance that rivals or exceeds many solvent-based predecessors, while benefiting from reduced transport-related emissions due to lower water content. Contractors will appreciate its efficiency, broad substrate compatibility, and improved safety profile, as fewer coats are needed. End-users will enjoy faster turnaround times, lower application costs, and long-lasting protection.”
Sancure 942 adds to Lubrizol’s expanding portfolio of coating technologies designed to help formulators meet rising performance demands while advancing their sustainability objectives.
