Distribution giant wants to build a 'global spice platform' and acquires French Quimdis
Azelis, a global service provider of specialty chemicals and food ingredients, announced on July 20 that it has signed a contract to acquire French raw material distributor Quimdis.
Quimdis serves the nutrition and health, flavor and fragrance, animal nutrition, personal care, medicine and food industries. Azeres said that the acquisition of Quimdis will increase the company's products and at the same time consolidate the French subsidiary's position in the field of life sciences.
Azeres said that the fundamental reason for the company’s acquisition is that Quimdis can provide itself with an important foothold in the non-cyclical flavor and fragrance market that continues to grow in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and at the same time bring in the field of animal nutrition. Synergistic opportunities, and increase nutrition and health products. The company said the transaction is in line with its strategy of combining organic growth with strategic acquisitions.
Quimdis was founded in 1988 by the current CEO Jean-François Quarré and others. It is headquartered in Paris, France, and originally focused on essential oils and active ingredients. At present, the company focuses on raw material distribution and formulation research and development, and has a solid position in the French market, with sales destinations in more than 45 countries and annual sales of nearly 100 million euros. Quimdis has 78 employees, more than 1,000 customers, and approximately 400 suppliers.
Jean-François Corey will assume the original position to assist Quimdis in a smooth transition to Azeres. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.
Hans Joachim Müller, CEO and President of Azeres, said: "Not long ago, we just acquired Vigon (flavors and fragrances company) in North America, and now we have bought Quimdis. Sri Lanka is ready to develop, formulate and implement a set of global flavors and fragrances market strategies, aiming to become the market leader. Quimdis will play the pillar of Europe, the Middle East and Africa in this strategy, and will also become our creation of a global flavors and fragrances platform Key role."
Benoit Fritz, general manager of Azelis France, added: “Azelis will use Quimdis’ knowledge and expertise to use its widely recognized essential oils, amino acids, Natural products such as active ingredients, microorganisms and minerals complement our horizontal value chain."
