L'OREAL group will acquire the perfume brand of CLARINS group

The French beauty giant L'OREAL (L 'Oreal Group) announced that it will acquire the brand Mugler and Azzaro of the French cosmetics group CLARINS (Clarins Group) perfume department, and the current transaction has entered the exclusive negotiation stage. It is expected that the transaction will be completed in 2019 with the consent of the employee representatives and the approval of the regulatory body. The specific financial details have not yet been disclosed.

Mugler was founded in 1974, and its business mainly includes high fashion and perfume. In 1992, Mugler launched the brand's first female perfume, Angel, which has won the attention of many female users.

Azzaro was founded in 1967. Its main business includes advanced clothing, fashion and perfume. It has more than 20000 sales outlets in 150 countries, and its perfume business has been among the top of the French perfume list since it launched its first bottle of fragrance in 1978. Cyril Chapuy, president of L'Oreal's luxury products division, said: "Mugler and Azzaro will further enrich L'Oreal's brand portfolio. Perfume business has always been the key to the growth of L'OREAL's luxury products sector, so we are very pleased that CLARINS's perfume and fashion brands Mugler and Azzaro can join L'OREAL.

According to L'Oreal's first quarterly financial report for fiscal year 2019, L'Oreal's luxury goods sector has performed "fairly well" as consumer demand for anti-aging has increased. Sales have increased by 19% to 2.68 billion euros from a year ago. Its luxury skin care brands Lancome (Lancome), YSL (Santa Laurent), Giorgio Armani are among them.( George Armani and Kiehl's are driving the sector to double-digit growth.

Jiaoyin Poetry Group, a senior official said that the total sales of Mugler and Azzaro brands were 416 million euros, accounting for 26% of the group's total sales (1.6 billion euros).

About the Cosmetic Poetry Group

Clarins (Cosmetic Poetry) was founded by Jacques Courtin-Clarins in Paris in 1954. Jacques Courtin-Clarins has developed a slimming massage Essential Oil at its Spa, which aims to enhance the effectiveness of compact massage.

Clarins landed on the Paris Stock Exchange. In 2008, Christian and Olivier Courtin-Clarins brothers launched an offer for acquisition. Afterwards, Jiaoyin Poetry withdrew from the market and returned to family private ownership. The Courtin-Clarins brothers went against the market trend and chose a long-term development path.

CLARINS's beauty department includes CLARINS brand and My Blend brand, and Mei Yan center; perfume department includes Mugler and Azzaro brand.
