Qinghai Mining's 600,000 tons/year olefin project is located in Golmud Industrial Park, Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It uses coal resources in Haixi area as raw materials and adopts coal gasification to methanol, methanol conversion to olefins, propylene polymerization and other process technologies. It produces main products such as ethylene monomer and granular polypropylene, and petrochemical by-products such as MTBE, C4+, C5+, etc. It is expected to produce 260,000 tons/year of ethylene and 415,400 tons/year of polypropylene. Ethylene will be combined with the Salt Lake Metal Magnesium Integration Project to balance the chlorine gas by-product of the Metal Magnesium Project to produce polyvinyl chloride.
