Shenzhou Cell Engineering's 'Bevacizumab' Applied for Listing
On April 22, China Cell Engineering's "bevacizumab" biosimilar drug was declared for listing.
Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to human vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and blocks its biological activity, reducing tumor angiogenesis, thereby inhibiting tumor growth. This is a veritable blockbuster drug. The original research came from Roche, and its peak sales exceeded 7 billion US dollars. However, in recent years, sales have declined due to the impact of similar drugs.
Bevacizumab is the most competitive biosimilar drug in China, and 9 products, including the original drug, have been approved for marketing, from Innovent Bio, Fuhong Henlius, Qilu Pharmaceutical, Hengrui Medicine, Boan Biology, TOT BIOPHARM, Bio-Otai. Before the listing of Shenzhou Cell Engineering News today, Chia Tai Tianqing has also submitted a listing application, and 9 more models are in Phase III clinical trials.
