China has become a major buyer of agricultural products in the Sverdlovsk region, and its share in the region's agricultural exports has increased to 8.6 percent in three years, the Russian Agricultural Export Center told Sputnik.

Sverdlovsk Oblast is a region in the composition of the Ural Federal District. In 2021, the region exported $130.6 million in agricultural products, ranking among the top three regions in terms of some Russian food exports, such as sauces, margarine, oil products and confectionery products. In the past 5 years, the region has actually doubled the volume of exports of the products of its agro-industrial complex.

According to the Center for Export of Agricultural Products, the Sverdlovsk region supplies 93 agro-industrial complex products to foreign markets in 39 countries of the world. China has emerged as a leader in the growth rate of agricultural imports from the state and is a leader in sourcing rapeseed oil, poultry meat and beer from the region. The state also supplies sunflower oil and pastry products to China. China is a key partner for all the top six producers of agricultural products in the region.

On February 2, the Federal Agro-Industrial Complex Product Export Development Center (AgroExport) of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told Sputnik that in the first 10 months of this year, Russian agricultural exports to China increased by 34%. China ranks second among Russian agricultural importers. In 2021, China ranked third after the European Union and Turkey.
