Corteva consolidated its global leadership position in biologics by acquiring Symborg and Stoller
Corteva (NYSE: CTVA) announced the completion of the acquisition of Symborg and Stoller, further consolidating its position as a global leader in the rapidly expanding biologics market. Symborg is a microbiological technology specialist headquartered in Murcia, Spain, and Stoller is one of the largest independent companies in the biologics industry, headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA.
Chuck Magro, Chief Executive Officer of Corteva expressed that these acquisitions demonstrate Corteva’s commitment to providing farmers with sustainable solutions that enhance farm value and productivity. We are pleased to welcome the employees of Symborg and Stoller to Corteva. We are confident that their knowledge and expertise combined with Corteva’s innovative capabilities will form a leading biologics business that can engage and accelerate the growth of the rapidly expanding biologics market.
The first tie-up between Corteva and Symborg is an attempt to increase the market size of their products through a distribution agreement. The two companies collaborated to bring Utrisha™ N and BlueN™ to farmers. Symborg has a diversified product portfolio, emerging biological control technology pipeline, and its staff has strong technical knowledge and market demand driving professional ability. With subsidiaries in Brazil, Chile, China, France, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Turkey and the United States, Symborg’s innovative biological solutions cover more than 50 countries. Stoller has more than 50 years of operating experience and good market performance in more than 60 countries and regions. Stoller ’s superior technical expertise and excellent business model have earned it a trusted reputation throughout the biologics industry.
Biologics will be the fastest growing category in the crop protection market and is expected to account for 25% of the total market by 2035.
The acquisitions of Symborg and Stoller, announced in the second half of 2022, will have an EBITDA impact on Corteva by 2023, which further reinforces Corteva’s commitment to provide farmers with an environmentally friendly, sustainable means to complement and continuously promote agricultural time in an effective manner.
