Westlake Epoxy's Duisburg, Germany facility receives ISCC PLUS certification
Westlake Corporation announced that its Westlake Epoxy production site in Duisburg, Germany, has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Enhancement (ISCC PLUS) certification. The facility received Mass Balance certification for its tracking and handling of sustainable materials in the production of epoxy specialty products. This is the second Westlake Epoxy facility in Europe to receive ISCC PLUS certification. The company aims to have all Westlake Epoxy facilities in Europe obtain this certification in the near future.
"This marks an important step in westlake Epoxy's strategy to incorporate renewable carbon materials into its raw material supply chain while reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions," said Ann Frederix, Vice President of Epoxy.
"ISCC PLUS certification creates access to a wider range of innovative, renewable and low carbon footprint products for our customers. The mass balance concept ensures equivalent performance to conventional epoxy resin products while supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability goals. This recent certification reflects Westlake's ongoing commitment to operating in a more environmentally responsible manner. The Westlake Epoxy strategy is in line with other European companies, such as Westlake Vinnolit, whose factories are ISCC PLUS certified. "
Wlestlake Epoxy serves a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, civil engineering and construction, composites and wind energy, electronics, electrical laminates, adhesives, marine and protective coatings.
