Lubrizol launches new EU food-grade carbomer polymer certification
The Lubrizol Company is a specialty chemicals company whose science and technology deliver sustainable solutions that promote mobility, improve well-being and enhance modern life.
The company will be showcasing its Lipofer microcapsules, which deliver optimal performance of iron, at VitaminFood Europe. The design of Lipofer microcapsules incorporates cutting-edge technology to deliver iron in an optimized manner, overcoming issues with iron's odor, reactivity, interactions with other ingredients, and color changes.
The technology enhances iron absorption while reducing gastric irritation and provides a pleasant taste that encourages consumers to adhere to recommended daily intake. Lipofer was developed to meet the growing demand for science-based products that meet the sensory needs of consumers.
In a recent consumer study in Europe, consumers found that the Lipofer formula had the mildest metallic aftertaste, which lasted much shorter than standard iron formulas.
The new EU food grade approval enables nutraceutical manufacturers to differentiate their product portfolios and create unique product claims. Carbomer polymers offer multi-functional advantages and provide consumer-centric solutions by creating a convenient way to make tablets smaller and easier to digest.
