Sika acquires leading Dominican construction chemicals company
Sika has acquired Vinaldom, a Dominican Republic-based construction chemicals company. For decades, Vinaldom has successfully served the local market with high-quality concrete construction products. The acquisition strengthens Sika’s position in the fast-growing Dominican market and provides significant cross-selling opportunities throughout the Caribbean.
Vinaldom is a family-owned company with a long history and a strong and loyal customer base. The product range includes concrete admixtures, fibers, adhesives and sealants. Vinaldom has an experienced sales team, good corporate management and business growth.
With this acquisition, Sika will add a manufacturing plant in the Dominican Republic, which will be Sika’s sixth plant in the Caribbean, strengthening Sika’s presence in the region. The expansion of the production footprint, coupled with the expansion of the customer base and product offering, will improve market access and provide a wider sales opportunity in the Dominican Republic and throughout the Caribbean, with customers receiving a more durable, sustainable solution portfolio and faster delivery times.
The Dominican economy has achieved strong, stable growth over the past few years and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5% by 2028. Large infrastructure projects in the energy and transportation sectors will create huge opportunities in the Dominican market. Tourism is another important pillar of the region's economy, and the resulting large-scale investment in hotels, building renovations and other activities will put Sika in a good position to take advantage of business growth in the infrastructure and commercial construction sectors.
Mike Campion, Regional Manager for the Americas, said: "With the acquisition of Vinaldom, we will be able to better serve and supply our customers in the Dominican Republic. With the support of local manufacturing, we will be able to reach a wider customer base, which will help further expand the Dominican market. We warmly welcome Vinaldom employees to the Sika team and look forward to growing our business together."
