Stable Shipping, Stable Activated Carbon Prices in China
August 22, News
According to the commodity market analysis system monitoring: At the beginning of the week, the price of activated carbon in China was 12,933 CNY/ton, and by the end of the week, the price of activated carbon in China was 12,933 CNY/ton, with the price remaining stable.
Chinese activated carbon prices from manufacturers were stable this week. The factory price for coconut shell activated carbon used for water purification in East China ranged between 9,000 and 13,000 CNY per ton. Currently, the market is moving smoothly, but there is a lack of positive support. High prices are hindering downstream usage, so close attention should be paid to market transaction conditions.
Coconut shell carbonized material is a key raw ingredient in the production of hard-carbon anodes for sodium-ion batteries. Currently, China's coconut shell carbonized material market is highly dependent on imports, with 95% of the country's supply coming from overseas. The primary sources are the Philippines and Indonesia, while Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and other countries also contribute modestly to the overall supply. Notably, China produces only a tiny fraction of the world's total coconut and coconut shells.
Forecast: Market transactions in China are expected to remain sluggish, and activated carbon prices are likely to fluctuate in the short term.
