ANRPC: Global Natural Rubber Production Is Expected to Increase by 2.1% in 2021, And Demand Will Increase by 8.7%
The latest report released by ANRPC predicts that in 2021, global natural rubber production is expected to increase by 2.1% year-on-year to 13.882 million tons. Among them, Thailand decreased by 3.9%, Indonesia increased by 2.8%, China increased by 22.9%, India increased by 15.3%, Vietnam increased slightly by 0.3%, and Malaysia increased by 2.9%.
In November, global natural rubber production is expected to increase by 2.3% to 1.407 million tons. Among them, Thailand fell by 1.8%, Indonesia increased by 4.7%, Vietnam increased by 0.4%, and Malaysia increased by 47.9%.
In 2021, global natural rubber consumption is expected to increase by 8.7% year-on-year to 14.076 million tons. Among them, China increased by 5.4%, India increased by 19.2%, Thailand decreased by 4.6%, and Malaysia decreased by 2.8%.
In November, global natural rubber consumption is expected to increase slightly by 0.1% to 1.218 million tons. Among them, China fell 9%, India fell 15.8%, Thailand fell 1%, and Malaysia increased 3.9%.
In November, the price trends of natural rubber futures and spot markets both showed an upward trend. This may be supported by the tight supply of raw materials caused by unfavorable weather in rubber-producing countries. For example, more rainfall affected domestic rubber tapping activities and led to a decline in production. Recently, a new outbreak of leaf falling disease was discovered in the Chanthaburi area of Trat Province in eastern Thailand, affecting an area of 16 hectares. Relevant departments are paying close attention to the development of the disease to prevent further spread to other plantations.
Although governments have introduced various stimulus packages and financial assistance to rebuild and recover from the economy hit by the new crown epidemic, the momentum of the recovery also depends on the development of the epidemic. The emergence of the Omicron variant during this period has exacerbated additional uncertainty . Some countries have resumed epidemic prevention and control measures to curb the spread of the virus and prevent further losses in economic activities.
