BASF launches Sistiva, a fungicide(Fluxapyroxad), in Brazil
Basf recently launched Sistiva(Fluxapyroxad), a fungicide used to treat wheat seeds, in Brazil. The product has a new concept in disease management and will play a role in the Brazilian wheat market.
Felipe Gutheil Ferreira, Seed treatment product Manager at BASF's Agricultural Solutions Division, highlighted Sistiva's excellent control and residual effects on powdery mildew and wheat rust. Disease control of crops usually begins with seed treatment so that the crop is in good health when the foliar fungicide is first applied. In addition to wheat, Sistiva is also recommended for soybeans, corn, cotton and rice.
The application of Sistiva provides producers with the safety and flexibility to keep crops healthy, thereby improving productivity and food quality, Ferreira noted.
"Sistiva will be commercially profitable for the first time in wheat in 2024, but in the 2023 planting season, producers will have the opportunity to demonstrate what the fungicide can do for farmers in several demonstration crops," Ferreira concluded.
