BASF expands the innovation field in the Asia Pacific Region

BASF opened a new R & D facility in Shanghai innovation park, which will enhance its innovation capacity in the Asia Pacific region, further strengthen cooperation with the automobile industry, and provide new process catalysts for the chemical industry. The new facilities include Asia Pacific automotive application R & D center and process catalysis R & D center, with a total investment of nearly 34 million euros and an area of 5000 square meters. " Automobile application R & D center: automobile original paint manufacturers and BASF design innovative products together. BASF Asia Pacific automobile application R & D center has an electrostatic spraying room equipped with advanced equipment, a physical testing laboratory and 3D robots, aiming to promote customer-oriented R & D. 3D robot can simulate the painting production lines in different conditions around the world, so as to optimize the painting process and products. It can not only achieve horizontal or vertical painting, but also spray on three-dimensional components such as doors and bumpers. 3D robot enables BASF not only to develop new products for customers in the automotive industry, but also to design solutions for original automotive paint and potential new trends in the automotive paint industry. The new application R & D center also has a laboratory dedicated to sustainable spray applications.

Now we have a complete innovation chain in the Asia Pacific region to serve local customers with local R & D. Advanced automotive application R & D center will help us to better serve customers in the automotive industry. " Process catalysis R & D center: explore new possibilities of catalysis technology. The process catalysis R & D center located in the same R & D building will focus on the development of new process catalysts to meet the specific needs of BASF customers in the Asia Pacific region. The center has advanced solid catalyst process equipment and highly specialized testing devices, which are used to evaluate the performance of solid catalysts. Scientists will develop new catalytic materials for new and existing process catalytic applications. Solid processes such as solid forming, separation, formulation, film coating, drying and solid treatment will also be designed and optimized in this center. The R & D center will also provide customized process catalysts and adsorbents for the Asia Pacific region and support the further development of the market, adding more value through close cooperation with BASF's customers and partners in Asia. It will complement BASF's world catalyst production base in Caojing, Shanghai, to further improve and strengthen its production capacity. From new polymer dispersions to sustainable coatings, BASF injects innovative energy to support sustainable development and improve the quality of life. Color eco is a new type of sustainable coating system, which includes water-based single coating and water-based integrated process. This kind of dispersion can improve the performance of waterproof membrane, especially in the case of bad or wet conditions such as kitchen, bathroom and swimming pool, the mechanical strength and anti detergent and bleaching agent corrosion ability of waterproof membrane are improved, thus prolonging the service life. It also has environmental protection properties: no APEO (alkylphenol polyethoxyl alcohol) and low emissions. BASF's global supercomputer "quriosity" has helped scientists develop a new customized color protection formula for laundry. Quriosity has greatly accelerated the design of new detergent formulations. The customized formula reduces the fading and cross color problems, and meets the requirements of convenience oriented consumers for the new generation of products. 

 

Elastofoam ® polyurethane solutions make the interior quieter and provide a better interior experience for drivers. New R & D facilities have been completed on time in 15 months according to the concept of green building, realizing 600000 safe working hours without any loss of working hours. In addition to safe construction, the building's HVAC system is integrated with waste gas treatment facilities, including roof mounted activated carbon equipment, which can remove volatile organic compounds such as hydrocarbons, solvents and organic gases generated during the spraying process. The building also provides advanced wastewater treatment system for the process catalysis research and Development Center for the treatment of process and industrial wastewater.
