An outbreak of Bacillus anthracis infection occurred in Kyrgyzstan

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on January 7, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Kyrgyzstan notified WOAH that an outbreak of Bacillus anthracis infection occurred in Kyrgyzstan.

 
The outbreak occurred in Karasu District, Osh Region and was confirmed on 5 January 2023. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. After clinical and laboratory tests, it was found that one cow was suspected to be infected, and became ill and died.
 
Now that the outbreak is over, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Agriculture and Food will no longer submit any reports.
